Is conservatism dead?Or Does It Just Seem So?

Two things -(1) explain why Fred hompson is a member of the Council of Foreign Relations and (2) How could anybody Conservative or with half a brain bring himself/herself to vote for an ex-Governor of Arkansas, if past experience means anything?
